Advice from M0BCG: The ft747 seems susceptible so strong rf signals and static, the front end fuse/bulb can go often . i did mine twice and just replace with a meter lamp bulb , its fitted towards rear of tcvr not far from antenna input socket . the main mod is to link both sides of the filter board in 2 places where there are solder thru connections which become either dry or they just dont function properly . my ft747 has given up on me now , it wont switch on at all , played up and then got gradually worse until it stopped completely , i did try to fix it but its a little more than just the relay playing up , i havent bothered to look at it since and so i will probably just put it in cupboard . it was only a cheap battered one , worked for a few years and i cant complain , but not worth sending away for repair or anything . can get plenty of power out of them though , 125w on 10 and up to 200w on 80m . you say yours is down to half power . basically when you get the usual symptoms with them they will sometimes not come on receive and sometimes wont transmit , or the s meter will rise to s7 and stay there . the filter board is at rear of the main pcb, you can pull it out , is mounted on multi socket .
